STAFF BIO:

Matt Brown joined Richmond United in April 2025 as the Assistant Director of Tournaments, bringing a strong background in communications, event support, and a passion for the game. In his role, Matt plays a key part in the planning and execution of Richmond United’s tournament series, helping deliver high-level events and memorable experiences for teams and families from across the country.

Prior to stepping into his current position, Matt was involved on the coaching side with the Richmond Strikers ADP Boys program, giving him valuable insight into the player and team experience at club events. His combined coaching and administrative perspective allows him to approach tournament operations with both attention to detail and a focus on the participant experience.

Matt graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Communications Studies and a minor in Sports Communication, equipping him with the skills to support large-scale event coordination and communication efforts.

A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Matt remains active in the game, playing center back in the CVSA Adult Men’s League, where he has won three championships since 2023. Outside of soccer, he enjoys exploring Richmond’s brewery scene, staying active in the gym, playing board games with friends, and competing on the kickball field. A fun fact—Matt was a member of JMU’s Club Racquetball team.
