Richmond United is proud to announce a long-term lease agreement with Chesterfield County for the use and development of two lighted soccer fields at Mary B. Stratton Park, located at 5201 Ridgedale Parkway, North Chesterfield, VA 23234.
The agreement establishes a 15-year lease term, with two additional 10-year renewal options, reflecting a shared commitment between Richmond United and Chesterfield County to expand access to high-quality soccer facilities and support the continued growth of the game in the region.
Under the terms of the lease, Richmond United will have exclusive use of the two lighted soccer fields for club membership programming, training, and sanctioned events. Richmond United will also assume full responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the fields throughout the duration of the lease.
As part of the long-term investment in the facility, Richmond United plans to replace the existing playing surface and install two brand-new artificial turf soccer fields in 2027. This significant capital improvement will enhance field durability, increase year-round usability, and provide a consistent, high-quality playing experience for our players of all ages.
“This agreement represents another major step in Richmond United’s partnership with Chesterfield County,” said Jay Howell, Richmond United CEO. “Securing long-term access to lighted turf fields allows Richmond United to continue serving our players and families at the highest level while making a lasting investment in the future of soccer in our community.”
“Athletes are inspired by exceptional environments, and investing in two lighted, state-of-the-art fields at Stratton Park elevates the player training experience, expands access for RU membership, and further strengthens an already important club facility for tournaments and National playoff events — empowering all players to train, grow, and thrive,” said Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond United Director of Soccer.
The lease of Mary B. Stratton Park further strengthens Richmond United’s footprint in Chesterfield County and supports the club’s mission to provide a premier soccer environment focused on player development, community engagement, and long-term sustainability.
