STAFF BIO:

Ivan Militar serves as the ECNL Boys Director for Richmond United, bringing a wealth of experience as both a player and coach at the collegiate, academy, and professional development levels. Since joining the club in 2025, Ivan has played a key role in leading and advancing the ECNL Boys program, focusing on player development, high performance standards, and pathway opportunities.

With over 10 years of coaching experience, Ivan has held leadership roles across the country, including Director of Coaching at Beach FC, Academy Coach at Barca Residency Academy, and Academy Director and U20 Head Coach for El Paso Locomotive FC. He also previously served as an Academy Coach within Richmond United, further strengthening his connection to the club and its mission.

Ivan holds a USSF A License, along with a diploma in Foundations of Sporting Directors from FOCUS Sports Business School. He completed his academic career at Old Dominion University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management with a minor in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership, and an Ed.S. in Higher Education Leadership.

As a player, Ivan had an accomplished collegiate career at Old Dominion University, where he played as a winger and attacking midfielder. He was named First Team All-Conference USA, First Team VaSID All-State, and earned All-Academic honors. He ranks fourth all-time in career assists at ODU and led Conference USA in assists in 2014. He also served as team captain his senior year. Ivan continued his playing career with Lionsbridge FC in USL League Two, where he again served as captain and ranks among the club’s all-time leaders in assists.

Originally from Szeged, Hungary, Ivan brings an international perspective to his coaching and leadership. Off the field, he is a proud husband and father of three and enjoys supporting his home country—especially the Hungarian National Team.
