Richmond United is pleased to announce our Talent Identification/Tryout process for the Richmond United Orange, Richmond United Red, Richmond United Blue, and Richmond United ECNL for the 2026-2027 season!

Please thoroughly review the information below, including the tryout fast facts and policies/procedures, prior to proceeding with any required Talent ID/Tryout registrations. Note that your completion of the tryout registration form indicates that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by these policies and day-of tryout procedures.

In order to be eligible for selection to a Richmond United roster position, players should attend every Talent ID/Tryout session that is listed or communicated to families. If there is a reason you can not attend a session, please contact your respective program Director as soon as possible.

Richmond United Talent ID/Tryout Policies and Procedures:

Registrations for all Richmond United tryouts will be made through GotSport.

Step 1
Make sure you have a user account in GotSport. One “parent” user account can be used to access all players throughout the GotSport system; so do not add an account if you already have one. If you need to create an account, you can do so from the Program Registration link.

Step 2
Select “Register” next to the player’s account that you wish to register.
If you do not see the player, click “Search” to create the new account.
Input the first/last name, date of birth and zip code. This will search the system for a match.
If the search does not yield results, you will be prompted to create the new player account.

Step 3
Complete the registration form and then click “Save and Continue.”

Step 4
The final page will show “Successfully Registered” at the top followed by your registration form answers. You may now select “Continue to My Account” or close the window. Your registration has
been accepted.

  • Players will have 48 hours to accept offered roster positions.
  • Upon acceptance, a $400 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a player's position.  All player travel fees must be paid by credit card.
  • Placement decisions will have been carefully considered by a number of different coaches and club directors, using both current and relevant past experience of player performance within each team environment. These decisions can not be protested.
  • Only players and coaches will be allowed inside of field spaces during Talent ID/Tryout sessions
  • Team Selections will be posted on our website post-Talent ID/Tryout sessions, and selected players will then be eligible to register for and accept their positions.

Unfortunately, injuries happen around this time every year, and we understand that players may be unable to participate in Talent ID/Tryout sessions as a result of medical concerns. While this complicates the player selection process, it does not preclude your player from being considered for a position within the Richmond United environment.

Below is how our coaching staff and Directors will proceed with evaluating and placing players for next year who have documented medical reasons for missing their Talent ID session(s):

  • Coaches will evaluate players' past performance (where known) compared to the other participants in each tryout session to gauge how this player will fit in with the team(s) being selected
  • Coaches will use video of previous games (if available) to evaluate past player performance
  • Roster decisions will be final and protests will not be allowed

We understand that an injury suffered around this time impacts players on multiple levels, and will use the steps above to act in the best interest of all club participants.

We believe that our player pathway affords all necessary developmental opportunities for players at every level of the youth game, which means that playing up is extremely rare within the Richmond United program.

  • As a policy, all players must register for and attend their age group’s tryout session to be considered for any RU team position.
  • If our technical and coaching staff determine that a player's past or current performance warrants moving them to an older age group for appropriate developmental reasons, we will notify the family after the tryout or offer a position on an older team during the roster announcement.
  • Players will not be offered more than one roster position. If offered a position on an older team, we expect the position to be accepted.
  • Requests to play up or tryout in an older age group will not be accepted, and decisions regarding player movement will be at the sole discretion of the technical coaching staff.
  • In the event a player is selected to play up one year, they are not automatically guaranteed to play up in subsequent seasons and should register for and attend their age group tryouts unless otherwise directed.
